Woodworker-turned artist Reggie Lichtner has created hundreds of sculptures over the past three years—all while immigration paperwork and COVID-19 travel restrictions kept him separated from his wife and children in Panama.   The art, Lichtner says,

Woodworker-turned artist Reggie Lichtner has created hundreds of sculptures over the past three years—all while immigration paperwork and COVID-19 travel restrictions kept him separated from his wife and children in Panama.

The art, Lichtner says, kept him sane during the years apart. Nowadays, he shares his workshop with his kids, building and crafting together like no time has passed, and turning their home into a neighborhood icon.

This story, published in The San Francisco Standard, was awarded 1st Place in Digital Media: Photography Feature by the San Francisco Press Club Awards in December 2022.
